Hello VAC members,
I have one more important organization that is sponsoring volunteer opportunities, Save the Bay. We were all motivated to action by the keynote address of David Lewis at our conservation banquet this year. The mission of Save the Bay is to protect and restore San Francisco Bay through policy change, hands-on restoration, and deep community connection. Most of their work is related to planting of native species of plants in wetland areas and removal of non-native species. The have several events coming up:
Native planting:
Dec 6th at Eden
Dec 10th, 13th and Jan 10th at Palo Alto Baylands
Shoreline and native planting:
Jan 10th, MLK Shoreline at Oakland
For further details and to sign up for any of these events, follow the link below

Please post a reply to this thread if you volunteer to participate so we can keep track of our activity and facilitate car pools if more than one Flycaster member is attending.
Finally, with the king tides we are experiencing, the California Coastal Commission is sponsoring the King Tide Project where volunteers will submit photos at various locations to document the effects of sea level elevation associated with climate change. Alison Takata, in conjunction with Environmental Volunteers is leading a walk on Dec 6th in Palo Alto as part of the King Tide Project. If you're interested in joining her please reach out at amtakata@yahoo.com. I'm not available that day, but will be joining a King Tides Project event at the Alviso Slough on December 5th. See the following website for further details:
